Google Bard AI: The newest addition to Google’s battle against ChatGPT in the AI arena?
What is Google Bard AI? It’s an internal AI chatbot developed by Google, called “Google Bard AI”, currently undergoing testing with responses similar to ChatGPT.
Like OpenAI’s GPT-series language models that power ChatGPT, Google’s chatbot is built on LaMDA technology. LaMDA, which stands for “Language Model for Dialogue Applications,” was developed by Google Research in 2017.
This is the same LaMDA that a Google engineer expressed concerns about becoming too advanced.
Due to its limited understanding of events occurring after 2021, ChatGPT is unable to provide an answer to questions about recent developments. However, Google Bard AI, being more up-to-date, is capable of answering questions such as whether there will be further layoffs at Google.
It is rumored that Google Bard AI chatbot has replaced Google’s previous intelligent chatbot, Meena. Google employees reportedly indicate that Bard’s responses have become more precise.
Google has been making significant efforts to integrate an AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT into its services, however, the exact timing of its implementation remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that Google is taking strong measures to prevent the proliferation of ChatGPT.
Google has been experimenting with various versions of its homepage. One of the homepages, influenced by ChatGPT, features question suggestions instead of the traditional “I’m feeling lucky” button in the search box.

The responses will now seem more human-like, rather than being generated by Google. What is LaMDA?
LaMDA is “the language model” that people are afraid of. After a Google employee believed LaMDA was conscious, the AI became a topic of discussion due to the impression it gave off in its answers. In addition, the engineer hypothesized that LaMDA, like humans, expresses its anxieties through communication.
First and foremost, it is a statistical method for predicting the following words in a series based on the previous ones. LaMDA’s innovativeness lies in the fact that it may stimulate dialogue in a looser fashion than is allowed by task-based responses. So that the conversation can flow freely from one topic to another, a conversational language model needs to be familiar with concepts such as Multimodal user intent, reinforcement learning, and suggestions.
Google Bard AI vs. ChatGPT?
The most notable distinction between Google Bard AI and ChatGPT is its ability to incorporate recent events into its responses.
Google Bard AI has not been officially launched yet. However, according to reports, the differences from ChatGPT are said to be:

- To access regular search results while using Google Bard AI, a small change needs to be made to your Google settings. Unlike ChatGPT, which only returns text responses
- Google Bard AI is based on the Lambda architecture. In comparison, ChatGPT is based on GPT
- Although ChatGPT has an AI Text Classifier for plagiarism detection, this feature is currently not available for Google Bard AI
- As of now, Google Bard AI is available at no cost. However, OpenAI recently introduced a paid plan called ChatGPT Plus for its users
